Le Mans Test Day
It was such a pleasure to be back at Le Mans after our race in the JMW Ferrari ended so abruptly in 2021 in the early hours of the morning while running strongly. I was back on shakedown/setup duties as Renger Van der Zande was racing in the US on Saturday and was unable to make it to Le Mans until Sunday afternoon. I did a track walk with Jason Hart on Saturday afternoon from the pits to the Porsche Curves, then back past the pits to Tertre Rouge which was longer than most full track walks! The other drivers at JMW for the race were first timers at Le Mans and in the GTE Ferrari so my brief was to check that all was well on Sunday morning before handing over to the others and to be on hand to help with any questions they may have about the car or track. After an installation lap, I did a 5 lap run first thing on Sunday and apart from the track being very green, all was well with the car and I was happy to be in P6 in a 23 car field when I jumped out to hand the car over. With the job done, I headed back to the UK but hope to be back to take part in the race at Le Mans ASAP.
